Getting the Waste Out of Beauty Salons and Spas

Image
Photo by billow926 on Unsplash Remember the pile of hair on the salon floor when you finally got your first real haircut after coronavirus restrictions were eased? Even in normal times, the beauty industry creates more than 877 pounds of waste every single minute when you combine all the hair clippings, color tubes, used foils, excess hair color, aerosol cans, and the like. That’s over 421,000 pounds of usable materials needlessly heading straight into landfills every day. How to deal with all those pounds in an environmentally friendly way has become a real issue. Enter Green Circle Salons , a beauty waste recovery service that started out 12 years ago in Canada before going on to help U.S. businesses recycle and repurpose up to 95 percent of their beauty waste. Want to do your part for the planet? Green Circle Salons makes it easy to find a Certified Sustainable Salon near you through its online directory.  Published by Books and skirts.

Protect Your Skin and Eyes from Unseen UV Rays

Image
Photo by Luigi Manga on Unsplash Most people understand the importance of protecting their skin from the sun, and how ultraviolet (UV) radiation can damage skin and eyes over years of exposure. However, many people don’t consider themselves exposed to the sun while driving. In fact, driving is a significant source of exposure to UV rays, according to the International Window Film Association (IWFA), a nonprofit organization. Automotive window films can provide an important layer of protection against harmful UVA rays, which do pass through unprotected window glass. Medical research has shown that drivers in the United States have an increased risk of developing skin cancer on the left side of their faces and on their left arms as a result of exposure to UVA rays through car windows. All quality window films block 99 percent of UVA rays and can help to reduce the risk of being exposed to the sun’s harmful UVA rays. But the dark glass that is popular in many vehicles today may not provi...

RIP Gunther!

Image
The 7th Friend, Gunther always had the least but funniest dialogs on F.R.I.E.N.D.S, which made us fall in love with the character, regardless of his stubborn behavior. In my personal opinion, there will be no one else who would play "Gunther" better than the late James Michael Tyler on the F.R.I.E.N.D.S Tv show. His silent reactions in most episodes gave us loud laughs. In memory of the late James Michael Tyler, here are 7 of "Gunther's" funniest quotes. 1. "Yes, that's what I drive. I make 4 bucks an hour. I saved up for 350 years." Joey finds a Porche key at the coffee house, and he asks if it's Gunthers. Isn't that the perfect sarcastic reply?! 2. "I thought you were Chandler."  Even though Gunther was forced to see all 6 "Friends" all the time at the coffee house, this shows Gunther showed attention to only Rachel. He thought Joey was Chandler until Season 4. Yet, still, he didn't seem to care and replied with ...
